Aortic aneurysms are the pathologic dilation of any aortic segment that can expand, rupture, and may lead to life-threatening conditions. Acute aortic syndrome entails acute aortic dissection and aortic root aneurysms, the leading cause of death in cardiovascular conditions. Aortic dissections are acute conditions where the layers of the aortic wall are separated due to a tear in the internal face of the aorta resulting in cardiac tamponade or hemopericardium.
Aortic root aneurysms are a part of thoracic aortic aneurysms that appear at the exit of the aorta where valves are placed. Among the different types of aortic dissections, acute type-A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is the most challenging surgical emergency where an intimal tear in the aorta forms a false lumen in the ascending aorta. ##Source## Journal of Cardiac Surgery, Journal of Transitional Internal Medicine, Journal ofโฆ
