A new app called ‘MBLOOD’ is now available, that aims to connect a million of donors with the patients across the country. India already has around 3000 blood banks, but they are often out of stock to meet the supply demands. According to the government figures for 2016-17, country is running short of up to 2 million units blood. More than a million units are discarded each year since the blood does not meet the quality parameters or deteriorates during storage.

It has been stated that, “ Both the shortage and wastage has made blood expensive and created a flourishing black market for it ”. One unit of blood costs around 800 to 2000 rupees and the whole business is very unregulated. The app MBLOOD is launched to create the largest online network of blood donors.
