A 21-year-old woman from Solapur became the country's first recipient of a uterus donated by her own mother. This complicated, one-of-a-kind surgery, was carried out by a team of doctors from the city at the Galaxy Care Laparoscopy Institute, in Pune. The performing surgeon said that, “The surgery which was performed on Thursday lasted for nine hours was done mainly through the keyhole method which did not even require blood transfusion”.
