Acute pancreatitis is a potentially lethal disease affecting the patient’s quality of life. About 20% of patients with mild pancreatitis progress to necrotizing pancreatitis that mostly requires necrosectomy. Patient outcomes, rate of complications, and proinflammatory response vary with surgical necrosectomy and endoscopic transgastric necrosectomy.
