In 1923 Frederick Grant Banting and John James Rickard Macleod were awarded Nobel Prize for discovery of insulin and since then insulin has played a vital role in management of all types of diabetes. In this article I would like to review types of insulin and their role in the management of diabetes. I am not going to talk about all the types of insulin since the purpose of writing this article is to discuss physiology of insulin which is very important to understand and certainly helps in the patient care.
