Intrathecal Butorphanol 2mg + Bupivacaine for cesarean section surgery is safe and very effective in terms of surgical comfort and patient satisfaction. With a 27G spinal needle, at L4-5 space injection, left lateral position, I did a large cohort study of 1200 patients over 7 years in my private practice. Intrathecal Butorphanol can be very safely, very effectively used for cesarean sections. No significant alarming side effects encountered except mild pruritus.
Vomiting is surprisingly less. For orthopedic and other general surgeries, including geriatric patients, Intrathecal Butorphanol 2-4 mg + Bupivacaine gives good quality anesthesia in terms of safety and patient comfort. What is your experience in this regard?
