We find that the Ayush practitioners use the same terms for description and diagnosis of a disease as that of Allopathy practitioners. They use the same medicines for treatment. They form virtually the B team for managing health problems of the nation. Taking the simplistic approach of targeting Allopathy practitioners is just having an ostrich-like attitude towards the problems in Indian health care.
Does the MCI have any say on these practitioners? Do the rules on Generic drug prescription apply to them? If no, then why not? Without addressing these questions does it make sense to frame rules on how to prescribe?
