A paediatrician introduces naso gastric tube to every new born baby to ruleout oesophago tracheal fistula and aspirates stomach contents to prevents vomiting. He also injects 5ml of air and auscultates to check whether the tube is inside the stomach. It is not mentioned in the text books. Won't that traumatise the nasal mucosa, pharynx, oesophagus etc.?
