A r ecent systematic review of randomized controlled trials evaluated the comparative effectiveness of diode laser (DL), sodium fluoride (NaF) varnish, and their combination in the management of dentin hypersensitivity (DH). Analysis demonstrated that DL and DL+NaF achieved significantly greater reductions in visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores compared to NaF varnish alone, with the combination protocol yielding the most consistent and durable outcomes. These findings suggest that DL, particularly in conjunction with NaF varnish, may represent a more robust therapeutic strategy by enhancing tubular occlusion and neural desensitization, thereby offering superior clinical efficacy over conventional fluoride-based approaches.
