The treatment of tracheal stenosis has evolved over the last few decades. Open airway reconstruction is traditionally the preferred choice, with endoscopic techniques being recently used on a large scale. These techniques are used to both augment and replace open procedures. Though endoscopic techniques have an advanced role in the management of pediatric subglottic as well as tracheal stenosis, open-airway reconstructive procedures are needed in cases of mature scar, long-segment, and high-grade stenosis.
