Bariatric surgeries are the most popular category of surgeries in complex obesity cases with minimal intervention. These minimal access surgeries encompass simple and small incisions rather than large incisions and have notable benefits of lesser postoperative pain and fewer complications. Endoscopic or laparoscopic approaches permit better dexterity and visibility than conventional methods. Such procedures also allow a lesser stress response and a faster recovery time. Band-related complications or unsatisfactory weight loss, however, at times lead to the revision of surgeries in a single step or two.
