Masks and respirators are essential to contain the spread of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended guidelines on the types and use of masks and respirators best suited to prevent being infected by SARS-CoV-2. Loose and cloth masks provide the least protection; well-fitted and woven masks provide fine protection; disposable surgical masks, KN95 masks provide better protection, and masks approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) provide the highest level of protection against the COVID-19.
