I feel that there should be the incorporation of clinical postings in the teaching curriculum of the MD (Microbiology) in Medical Colleges. The MD Microbiology specialists leave aside their clinical aspect behaves like a non-Medico (like M.Sc/PhD-Microbiology) once postgraduates as MD (Microbiology) which is absurd. What happens to his MBBS qualification then even other clinicians takes it that way? I feel MD (Microbiology) specialty need to evolve and preserve the entity of clinical component by incorporating clinical postings in the infectious diseases (clinical aspect) so that there is more correlation and the MD(Microbiology) becomes a full blown specialist in the field of Infectious disease.
