According to the latest status report of PMSSY, most of the government medical colleges as well as institutions getting upgraded under Phase-III of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) are running far behind schedule. PMSSY is a Central Sector Scheme which is setting up All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) like Institutions and upgrading the existing government medical colleges. The work at some of the medical colleges has not even started or are progressing at a snail’s pace. While the up gradation of a medical college at Muzaffarpur has seen only 2% of completion.
Another medical college in Bihar is running late as there is a delay in shifting of underground utilities and existing structures.
