Plastic is a cheap, versatile, sterile and adaptable material used in various applications benefitting mankind. However, it is regrettable to see that man's casual or negligent approach to plastic use and disposal has resulted in plastic garbage becoming an environmental pollution that affects ecosystems worldwide. Use of plastics is so widespread that life seems impossible without it. Some 450 million tones are being produced now which was only 2 million tons in 1950.
