A Mumbai hospital trust has filed a ₹125 crore defamation suit in the Bombay High Court against a first-year general surgery trainee over two social media posts alleging illegal working hours, ragging, torture and mental harassment. The trust has described the posts as “completely false” and alleged that they were intended to arm-twist the hospital into meeting the trainee’s personal demands and divert attention from what it described as her reckless conduct. In its plea, the trust said portraying the consequences of the trainee’s own conduct as mental torture or harassment was an attempt to evade accountability and shift focus from alleged misconduct.
