Everyone agrees that the Indian healthcare system is broken. There are too many patients, not enough doctors, and no one trusts anyone in the ecosystem because it is riddled with corruption, right from the apex body (Medical Council of India ) downwards. In the past, medical colleges were centers of medical excellence. They would attract professors of international caliber, and would treat lots of patients from all over the country who would seek expert medical treatment. They were also able to carry out quality research because they were well funded by the government.
