Solitary neurofibroma of the breast is rare. These are benign peripheral nerve sheath tumours , usually solitary and sporadic . The most common location of a breast neurofibroma is the nipple–areola complex . Neurofibromas are composed of Schwann cells, fibroblasts, and collagen fibers . They may rarely undergo malignant transformation.

However, an accurate diagnosis is important due to the morbidity and psychological distress caused to the patient having such a tumor. A breast neurofibroma can mimic other, more aggressive tumors. Diagnosis relies on pathology, while imaging plays an important role. MRI is the best imaging modality to evaluate morphology and the enhancement pattern suggestive of a benign lesion.
