Neuropathies comprise damage to the nervous system caused by various clinical conditions, such as diabetes and nutritional deficiencies. 1 Trigeminal neuralgia (TN), a relatively rare disorder, is characterized by painful episodic facial pain that involves one or more trigeminal nerve branches. TN comprises a wide variation in its clinical symptomatology, which leads to delayed or misdiagnosis. 2 Peripheral neuropathy, a more common neuropathic disorder, is caused by diabetes.
