Worldwide, scientists are working on more than 120 vaccine trial programs that are at early development stages. In a similar attempt, researchers at Oxford University have started human trials on a new novel coronavirus vaccine. The new UK vaccine is based on a novel approach that includes synthetic strands of RNA which mimic the virus. In contrast, the traditional approach includes the weakened or modified form of the virus or its part. The vaccination procedure and its mechanism involve: Intramuscular introduction of the synthetic RNA molecule (vaccine).
RNA strands self-multiply and produce amplified copies. The immune response is then triggered to make copies of spike proteins of the virus. As part of the trial at Oxford University, about 300 volunteers will be vaccinated in the upcoming weeks. Researchers have first tested the safety and efficacy of the vaccine in animals, whichβ¦
