Recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a premixed, cranberry flavoured oral solution for the cleansing of the colon in adults preparing to undergo colonoscopy . This new Colon-Cleansing Solution is a combination of sodium picosulfate and magnesium oxide and anhydrous citric acid, which when combined forms magnesium citrate. This magnesium citrate acts as an osmotic laxative and is mainly indicated for cleansing of the colon as a preparation for colonoscopy in adults. This solution has relatively low-volume, it is premixed and has a cranberry flavour, making it more palatable to the patients.
