Many diseases, including liver cirrhosis and cardiovascular diseases , are known to be associated with alcohol consumption. However, most studies on alcohol-related diseases were performed on Western populations. Now a study investigated the association of alcohol consumption with 207 diseases among 512,724 Chinese participants . Alcohol consumption was significantly related to the increased risks of 61 diseases in men .
Among them, 28 diseases, including tuberculosis, six cancers (Colorectal, liver, oral, etc.), diabetes, hypertensive diseases, cardiomyopathy, cerebrovascular diseases, and alcoholic liver disease, were already considered alcohol-related diseases by WHO .
