Male, aged 33 years is a Psychology student from Nigeria. He had noticed a painless deformity of his back since the age of 15 years which was progressive and was untreated. It gradually worsened during the next 5-years and he started developing significant respiratory problems attributable to restrictive lung disease. He hailed from a poor family and was supported by his sister and her in-laws. He had been advised surgical correction of scoliosis by fusing the top to the bottom of spine thus making him stiff.
