The recent decision of the National Medical Commission (NMC) to lower the recruitment limit for non-medical faculty in medical colleges and also to abolish their appointment in a few subjects has given rise to employment insecurity amongst the non-medical faculty. The New Regulation The amendment in the “Minimum Requirements for MBBS Admission Regulations 2020” by the NMC has reduced non-medical faculty intake in medical colleges. The guidelines have been adopted as per the Medical Council of India (MCI) requirement. They will be applied to new colleges admitting students in the 2021-2022 batch and those seeking to increase MBBS intake.
