No condom ads between 6 am to 10 pm! That’s the new decision by Indian government. All TV channels are strictly banned to air condom advertisements during daytime till 10 pm as they are ‘indecent’ for children. It’s certainly true that most of the condom commercials are marketing oriented rather than educative. But I am doubtful how much effective this ban will be.

Children can still access content and videos ‘indecent’ for them from anywhere on internet. Instead of putting such restrictions, the government should include basic sex education. In this context, I think the decision to include sex education in MBBS syllabus was much better move. It should be included in basic Indian education system rather than just for MBBS students.
