In women with isolated polyhydramnios —a condition known for increased postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) risk—a single dose of carbetocin demonstrated superior efficacy over traditional oxytocin and oxytocin–ergometrine regimens . In this retrospective study of 286 term pregnancies , carbetocin not only minimized hemoglobin drop and blood loss but also maintained a more stable postpartum shock index , with f ewer secondary interventions required. Its long-acting uterotonic effect ensured sustained uterine contraction, offering a compelling case for its preferential use in high-risk, overdistended uterine conditions.
