Reconstructive microsurgery is a rapidly growing field in which specialized instruments and operating microscopes are used to repair intricate structures such as nerves and blood vessels less than a few millimeters in diameter. The advantages of this surgical procedure include smaller and cleaner incisions, minimal tissue handling, lesser hemorrhage, and a closer wound approximation. However, several challenges such as insufficient expertise, inadequate preoperative care, and lack of equipment can be associated with this procedure. Therefore, advanced training and highly skilled surgical expertise are required to manage complex microsurgical cases.
