A police team from Nagpur, Maharashtra, has arrested a man from Uttar Pradesh linked with a counterfeit medicine racket busted in March 2023. The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration had found samples of counterfeit ciprofloxacin tablets from a government healthcare facility in Kalmeshwar tehsil in March 2023. The counterfeit tablets had no trace of ciprofloxacin. These tablets were supplied through a government medical college hospital in Nagpur. In a recent raid, the FDA authorities raided the same hospital’s store and confiscated 21,600 tablets of the same brand.
According to the police, the tablet strips listed a fake Gujarat-based manufacturer. Previously, the police booked three individuals connected with the case.
