Proactive surgical procedures can effectively manage the diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) by adjusting mechanics of the foot. For the first time in the UK, a proactive surgical approach comes without the potential complications and is performed at a significantly lower cost. The percutaneous procedure was performed under local anesthetic by an orthopedic surgeon , while 14 patients were treated conservatively with the best medical and podiatric management. How is this surgery performed?

The surgery was aimed to remove the pressure on the ulcerated region to accelerate healing.
