Let me discuss the various metabolic syndromes associated with morbidly obese people. Needless to say, they'd have type 2 diabetes, they may be having non alcoholic fatty liver disease, and yes, non alcoholic steatohepatitis. Dyslipidemia is often common.

They may have truncal distribution of adipose tissue and insulin resistance and decreased high density lipoprotein. Often the metabolic syndrome would have increased levels of C reactive protein, serum amyloid A, increased leptin and various pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines like TNF and interleukins would be high.
