A 70 yrs old male. c/o depression, burning micturition, irregular bowels, burning feet, unsteadiness while standing, lack of energy. TSH, Cortisol, Igh, prolactin, S sodium, all WNL but lower side of the range. MRI brain empty sella ( Optd 3 yrs ago ). h/o hypertension 30 yrs. On Telmisartan and metoprolol. BPH, in Silodosin 8mg, Taken a lot of antibiotics for loose motions and Chronic prostatitus. Remission and relapses continued.
But since two months put on Prednisone 5mg od for one month and then tapered of to nill now in one month. Patient felt almost free of all the symptoms and felt energetic and happy in these two months. But now he feels his systems are reappearing. He is on thyroxine 25mg od. Escitalopram 10 mg HS. And for BP and prostate as mentioned above. Can we keep him on a low dose of say 2.5 mg daily indefinitely if he is all symptoms free?
