The Lancet Every year on the 29th of July, Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) Day is observed to emphasize the relevance of ORS as a cost-effective health intervention. Diarrhea dehydration can be avoided by providing extra fluids at home and providing patients with a glucose-electrolyte solution orally. This method of administering fluids to prevent or treat dehydration is known as oral rehydration therapy (ORT).
