Anaemia during pregnancy is a well recognised public health problem in India  resulting in variety of adverse outcomes both for the  mother and child. we present here two cases of maternal anaemia which were identified by community physicians working in the area and its subsequent management: While visiting the sub-centre Samlehri in Raipur Rani block of Haryana for supportive supervision in May, 2017, two pregnant with severe anaemia (Hb<7 gm %) were encountered by us. Both the women hailing from the same village and belonged to SC families. They had come for routine ANC check up at the centre.

Both the women were in their 2ND trimester with POG 22+6 and 23+5 weeks respectively and were 2nd and 3rd gravida. Both of them were educated only up to primary level, married at early ages of 18 and 19 years and belonged to lower socio-economic classes. Both the pregnancies were conceived…
