We are in era of anterior and posterior segment surgeries . Anterior segment surgeon will only perform anterior segment surgeries like repair of corneal tears, retinal cornea scleral perforations or rupture globe. However, these anterior segment surgeons will not take up posterior segment problems like retinal tears vitreous haemorrhage, unresolved retinal detachment armed and many more posterior segment problems like a retained posterior segment of bodies.
All these would need Pars Plana Vitrectomy (PPV), Lensectomy removal of the body then putting in silicone oil, removal of oil all these procedures are done by vitreoretinal surgeons. Did you find this article helpful?
