I have done my MD in Biochemistry. I completed this year and sadly find that there is not much scope available for further studies. Earlier, MD biochemistry students could pursue DM Endocrinology, but the eligibility has now been removed. There are no other DM subjects available for further study. DM in Medical Genetics available at one of the college is open for all MD subjects and hence is very tough to get. Even fellowship programs are few with none having biochemistry as exclusive eligibility.
Private labs refuse to hire, since they take M.Sc or Phd candidates at a lower salary. Taking this into consideration, i believe the subject should not be offered by MCI as an MD subject since it has no exclusivity. What is the scope MD Biochemistry now-a-days? Please share your opinion.
