The kidney transplant is once again in the news and as somebody who worked in this field for a full year in 2001 at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh; I know a thing or two about this. But we were in a government set up and hence protected though I cannot be absolutely confident that the transplants that we carried out were always from related donors. Indeed, it is impossible to be so.
There is little doubt that there are transplant rackets operating in different parts of the country and I cannot deny that there might be places where doctors are also involved in the practice.
