A 45-year-old man with a history of ulcerative colitis is admitted to the hospital with 2 to 3 weeks of RUQ abdominal pain, jaundice, and pruritus. He has no fever and a normal WBC count.

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) shows multifocal strictures of the both intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts with intervening segments of normal and dilated ducts.
