An anxious couple with their gracious little girl of 5 years old approached us at the clinic The swelling was quite large and interfering with her cute smile and function. The swelling was found in the right side of her upper lip involving lower lip, extending to her upper cheek. The swelling was reddish-purple in colour. On examining it was concluded to be a hemangioma growth on the skin and surgical excision to be the solution. Hemangioma is non-cancerous growth on or under the superficial skin with extra or numerous blood vessels. They are usually present from birth.
The exact cause of occurrence is not known. They can be of familial origin too. They are bright red to purple in colour depending on the depth of the swelling under the skin. Hemangioma on skin presents no discomfort or pain. Complication as far as haemangioma is massive bleeding with rupture of swelling. The little kid…
