Multiple myeloma (MM) is a condition of accumulating plasma cells in bone marrow along with overproduction of monoclonal proteins. The occurrence of this condition ranges from 1.2 to 1.4 per 1 lakh people. Because of its rarity (1% of all new cancer cases), MM is not involved in routine scanning.
