The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Nalgonda, has held Narketpally-based Hospital liable for medical negligence that resulted in the death of a woman during childbirth. In a significant verdict, the Commission directed the hospital to pay ₹1 crore as compensation to the deceased woman’s family for the loss caused by improper medical care and negligence. The case dates back to July 2018, when the woman, who had been under regular antenatal care at Kamineni Hospital, was advised to undergo a Caesarean section (C-section) for delivery. Her consulting doctor had earlier confirmed that both mother and baby were healthy.
