Meniere's disease is an inner ear disorder leading to vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss. It mainly affects only one ear and usually starts between 40 to 60 years of age. More than 150 years after Prosper Ménière's observations about the condition, its exact cause remains an enigma. There is no exact cure available, but some medicines, such as meclizine or diazepam, promethazine, diuretics, or betahistine, can help ease symptoms and lessen its effects considering its episodic nature.
