Liver abscess is very common and hugh number of these patients are admitted in medical colleges and district hospitals as referred from suburbs, rural areas where water and personal hygiene is poor. Metronidazole is a drug of choice for amebic liver abscess (ALA), but has long course and significant side effects. Thus, the drugs like tinidazole with a better tolerability record.
