The SURMOUNT-5 study compared tirzepatide MTD (10 or 15 mg) with semaglutide MTD (1.7 or 2.4 mg) over 72 weeks in adults with obesity or overweight and at least one obesity-related complication.¹ Tirzepatide demonstrated a greater mean reduction in body weight than semaglutide, with 21.6% vs 15.4% reduction at Week 72 (efficacy estimand). A pre-specified subgroup analysis evaluated weight reduction according to baseline BMI.¹ Tirzepatide MTD was associated with greater weight reduction than semaglutide MTD in both BMI subgroups, with 19.4% vs 15.9% reduction among participants with BMI <35 kg/m² and 22.6% vs 15.2% among those with BMI ≥35 kg/m² (efficacy estimand).
