Worldwide tobacco smoking is the most commonly encountered risk factor for COPD. The etiopathology of pulmonary emphysema is not fully understood however the known reason is lung inflammation caused by cigarette smoke, environmental pollutants, or bacterial products resulting in the imbalance of proteases and antiproteases. Herein we specifically present diagnosis and treatment options for tobacco-induced emphysema.
