A 5 year old boy was diangosed and treated by me for Enteric fever 1 month ago. He had high fever, and 1:320 titres on widal. I gave him high doses of Azithro & Ofloxacin (since had already received low doses of cefixime) Now he has reported after being afebrile for 25 days with high fever documented 103 F), throat congestion and sonme white spots in the tonsils, though no significant pain in the throat OR significant Lnpathy in the neck.
He is otherwise well preserved I am having a differential of acute tonsillitis OR enteric relapse. How should I proceed, and what tests would be useful in this situation, since the the widal may actually remian +ve for a few months even after successful treatement.
