The Union Health Ministry has designated the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, to run the National Release Centre, for distribution and management of SNOMED CT, a computer processable uniform medical coding standard to improve electronic health record maintenance in hospital and healthcare sectors. India today is on the verge of major transitions in the field of Healthcare Information Technology. It is the need of the hour to move towards an Integrated Healthcare System to facilitate Electronic Medical Record or Electronic Health Record (EHR) maintenance through a uniform system across hospital and healthcare providers.
