The US FDA has approved sibeprenlimab-szsi for the reduction of proteinuria in adults with primary immunoglobulin A nephropathy (IgAN) who are at risk for disease progression. Sibeprenlimab is an A Proliferation Inducing Ligand (APRIL) blocker that lowers serum levels of galactose-deficient immunoglobulin A1, a key factor in the pathogenesis of IgAN.

Clinical evidence In a clinical trial involving 510 patients, sibeprenlimab significantly reduced proteinuria by 50%, compared with 2% in the placebo group after nine months.
