Tenofovir alafenamide, an analog of hepatitis B virus (HBV) nucleoside, is currently recommended as a first-line treatment for adults with chronic HBV and compensated liver disease as per the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) guidelines. However, a recent clinical trial has indicated the safety and efficacy of this once-daily oral treatment for chronic HBV in pediatric patients (12-18 years of age) with compensated liver disease.
Indication Tenofovir alafenamide is indicated for the treatment of chronic HBV infection in pediatric patients (≥ 12 years) with compensated liver disease.
