The US FDA has approved clonidine hydrochloride oral liquid formulation for the treatment of hypertension in adult patients. It is the only FDA-approved, immediate-release oral solution indicated for this condition. This results in decreased peripheral and renal vascular resistance, heart rate, and blood pressure.
