The US FDA has approved a riboflavin 5’-phosphate ophthalmic solution for use in epithelium-on corneal collagen cross-linking in patients with keratoconus aged 13 years and older. This innovative formulation is bioactivated by UV light in an oxygen-enriched environment to strengthen corneal tissue.
